You must be 18 or older and have a Social Security number. A criminal record isn't an automatic disqualification, but it goes to review and can affect the outcome.

California insurance code and ethics: twelve hours, about three days if you sit down with it. $29.95 with the team discount, against a $219.95 list price, so $190 saved, plus a $6 filing fee. Enrol through the team discount link (also in Platform Resources). Plenty of online guides still say 32 hours (20 + 12). That was the rule through the end of 2025. Under AB 943, from 1 January 2026 it is these twelve, one of them anti-fraud.

Offered in both Chinese and English: 80 questions in one hour 45 minutes, 45 correct to pass. PSI runs it, and the next seat is usually about a week out, so book it with PSI the moment you finish the course. The nine chapters, the California figures to memorise, and which question-bank figures have gone stale are all on the exam prep page.

Fingerprints and background check
采集指纹，比对联邦与加州的犯罪记录。建议考完试当天顺手做掉，少跑一趟，也少等几天。 先下载 Live Scan 指纹表（BCIA 8016），保险局的机构代码已经印好，填上个人资料带去。
Prints are taken and run against federal and California records. Do it the same day as the exam: one trip instead of two, and several days saved. Download the Live Scan form (BCIA 8016) first; the Department of Insurance codes are already printed on it, so just add your details and bring it.

同时申请联邦保险号（NPN）。加州执照 $188、有效期两年，审批约 10 个工作日。 考一次试，50 州通用，所以说执照是你自己的，走到哪里都带得走。
You apply for your National Producer Number (NPN) at the same time. The California license is $188 for two years, approved in roughly ten business days. One exam, good across all 50 states, which is why the license is yours to carry wherever you go.
执照申请在 Sircon 网上递交。 递交之后可以在加州保险局的网站查执照状态，批下来的执照号也在那里查。 批准后到电子执照页面下载执照。
Apply online at Sircon. After you apply, check the licence status on the Department of Insurance site; the licence number shows up there once it's approved. Then download the e-licence.

后续教育课程
Continuing education
年金课程约 $50（约 15 分钟）。之后每两年续照都要完成继续教育，约 $70（约 30 分钟）。 这是执业期间的固定成本，不是一次性的。继续教育完成后，续照同样在 Sircon 办。
The annuity course is about $50 (around 15 minutes). After that, every two-year renewal requires continuing education, about $70 (around 30 minutes). This one recurs. It's a cost of practising, not a one-time fee. Once the CE is done, renew on Sircon as well.

Licensing doesn't have to be waited out: it runs in parallel with the Fast Track. A trainer carries the first cases, and once the license lands you run the full process yourself. The team discount code for step two is in Platform Resources. A new partner should enrol in week one.
